Thermowood cladding

Thermowood cladding is made from thermo spruce, thermo pine (softwood), thermo radiata pine, thermo ayous, thermo poplar (without knots) or thermo ash (hardwood, without knots). Due to its high durability, dimensional stability and thermal properties, Thermowood is a very good choice for exterior cladding or fencing. Thermowood retains its shape and is resistant to changing climate conditions. Even more, the thermally preserved wood is resistant to decay.

The heat treatment is a computer-controlled process which is carried out in a special oven at high temperatures. Eco-friendly process with only steam and heat results in increased stability and durability, extending the lifetime of the wood. As a result, the durability of thermowood cladding offers an environmentally friendly alternative to tropical hardwoods. Thermowood wall cladding can be used outside and inside without coating.

Weathering

Without coating, even thermally modified wood will eventually turn silver-grey, although the material will retain its weather-resistant properties. It is possible to preserve the color by coating with UV-protection oil or paint. Oil or paint coating will help to retain the dark rich colors within the boards. This also delays the silvering process that strong sunlight causes in all timber products.

Thermowood cladding material is sourced responsibly and harvested from approved American and European forests. Timber class is Thermo-D (class D is wood with improved durability.)
