Thermowood terrasplanken
De meest populaire thermowood terrasplanken zijn gemaakt van thermo grenen (thermisch naaldhout) of thermo essen (hardhout, zonder knopen). Thermowood planken gemaakt van thermisch verduurzaamd hout zijn milieuvriendelijk, praktisch en mooi. De hittebehandeling is een computergestuurd proces uitgevoerd in een speciale oven bij hoge temperaturen. Het gaat om een milieuvriendelijk proces met alleen stoom en hitte dat zorgt voor een verhoogde stabiliteit en duurzaamheid en een langere levensduur van het hout. Thermo essen terrasplanken
Amerikaans essen (Fraxinus americana) vertoont na een hittebehandeling een rijke donkere kleur en een aantrekkelijke korrel. Het uiterlijk van thermowood essen terrasplanken is vergelijkbaar met het tropische hout, want het is met een zeer weinig knoesten/ knopen. Terrasplanken van thermo essen hardhout zijn natuurlijk, esthetisch en duurzaam (duurzaamheidsklasse 1 volgens de Europese norm EN 350-2).

Thermo grenen terrasplanken
De grove den (Pinus sylvestris) is goed geschikt voor thermo-behandeling en ziet er na het proces zeer luxe uit. Door de prijs van het product worden thermowood grenen terrasplanken veel meer gebruikt dan bijvoorbeeld thermo essen terrasplanken. Hieronder ziet u de verschillende soorten terrasvloeren die gemaakt zijn van thermisch gemodificeerd grenen, oftewel thermowood terrasplanken van grenenhout.

Verwering van Thermowood terrasplanken
Zonder coating, zullen zelfs thermowood terrasplanken uiteindelijk zilvergrijs worden, hoewel het hout zijn weersbestendige eigenschappen behoudt. Het is mogelijk om de kleur te behouden door coating met UV-bescherming olie of verf aan te brengen. Olie of verf coating zal helpen om de donkere, rijke en natuurlijke kleuren binnen de planken te behouden. Dit vertraagt het verzilveringsproces dat sterk zonlicht in alle houtproducten veroorzaakt.
Het materiaal voor thermowood terrasplanken is afkomstig uit verantwoorde en erkende Amerikaanse en Europese bossen. De houtklasse is Thermo-D (klasse D is hout met een verbeterde duurzaamheid).
